ITINERARY & INFO YOU SHOULD KNOW

So you’re planning to JOIN US in Yosemite! Here’s what you’ll need to know…

Lodging - A room block has been reserved at the Inelle Tribute Portfolio Hotel located at 48800 Royal Oaks Drive, Oakhurst CA.  Make your reservations in the room block by calling the hotel directly at (559)566-2323 between Friday January 24 and March 31, 2025.  Reference the “RENOD” group to receive the group pricing of $217/night.  Reservations made after the cutoff date of March 31, 2025 will be subject to hotel pricing.

You may choose to stay elsewhere.  Your reservation will be on your own.

Travel & Park Entry Reservations - The Inelle Hotel is located outside of Yosemite National Park (YNP).  We will travel approximately 1.5 hours into the park each day.  Traffic is always a concern in park.  Limiting the number of vehicles in our group will be very helpful, carpooling will be encouraged.

Carpooling helps cut entrance fee costs, reduces congestion in the park and will help aid our group traveling together and parking together.  Please plan to carpool from the hotel to our destination in the park.

YNP charges a standard vehicle entrance fee of $35 for each vehicle and it’s passengers, which is good for 7 days.  You’ll only need to purchase the standard park entry pass once on this trip…as long as you keep your original receipt.  The America the Beautiful Annual Park Pass is also accepted at YNP.  This pass allows entry into all US National Parks, including Pinnacles NP, for one year from purchase.

We will depart the hotel early to limit delays entering the park and to beat the crowds to some of the sights and parking locations.  It’ll take about an hour and a half to get to our destination on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Yosemite NP has required a Vehicle Park Entry Permit for every vehicle entering the park, during peak times on weekends.  The cost is $2 and must be purchased online before arrival.   One permit is good for one vehicle and is attached to the drivers name.  YNP has not confirmed the Vehicle Park Entry Permit process yet this year.  Once I have confirmation on the process, we’ll coordinate purchase for those driving into the park.

Hiking - Once we are in the park there are several hikes planned, some very short and at least two that are about 7 miles.  Bring your hiking gear; shoes, backpacks, water, trail snacks, hiking poles, a “pancho or rain jacket, headlamp,  etc., dress in layers.  Mornings are chilly and it will likely get warm in the afternoon. Don’t forget your phones/camera.  YNP is absolutely stunning this time of year!

Food - Oakhurst has several dining options we can discuss for group dining. There are also a couple of grocery stores where food and drinks can be purchased to bring into the park.  Trail snacks, drinks and food for the drive are recommended.   Please be “Bear Aware”.  Yosemite is bear country.  Please watch the 4 minute video linked above to become “Bear Aware”.  YNP has a few dining options available but they can get busy.

YNP has a few dining options we’ll try but they can get busy.

Trip Itinerary*-

Friday May 16 - Arrive at the hotel for check-in around 3PM and JOIN US for a sunset hike. We’ll leave hotel at 4PM to travel into Yosemite to Glacier Point area, hike in to our sunset hike location and enjoy the view. We’ll plan a group dinner after the hike and get ready for Saturday.

Saturday May 17 - The “Main Event”, get an early start and drive into the Yosemite Valley to beat the crowds.  We’ll spend the day in the Yosemite Valley taking in the sights.  There are a few hikes planned, the longest is a 7 mile loop hike with 2200’ of elevation.  Bring a rain jacket or poncho. There’s likely to be some “Mist” on this trail.

Sunday May 18th - Check out of the hotel early and travel into YNP for the “Bonus Hike”, the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.  We’ll plan to arrive early to beat the crowds. This 7-ish mile hike among some of the largest and oldest trees in the world is worth the wait. This trail will take about 4ish hours to complete.  We will depart the park and head home from there.
